Pennsylvania roots. Skidmore College. Ten years in New York co-founding the Seraphim Theater Company and carving out a career in film and television. Los Angeles since 1998. Actress — always. And now, with full intention, a visual artist: collaging, silkscreening, painting. Making work in a visual language that has been waiting for her all along.

In her own words...
I have always loved magazines. The touch of the glossy pages that feel so good under my fingers, the huge September issues, inches thick, the different papers and inks, the perfect rip... From Vogues, Ws and Playboys from the '70s to Interview Magazines and newspapers and books. I search for images that grab me, familiar and strange — images that when put in a different context take on an entirely new meaning.

My collage work I am interested in the masks we wear, the faces that we choose to show to the world, and the many more that we hide. Specifically as women, I am fascinated by the roles we play: daughters, sisters, mothers, lovers, caretakers, nurturers, advisors, crones… I am constantly amazed by what women do, by their ability to transform. That is the recent focus of my collage work.

My silkscreen work started with a desire for something bigger, looser, more physical. I love working over a large table, pulling the squeegee across the screen, watching ink bloom through mesh onto paper — and the fact that every pull is a little unpredictable. That the work talks back. I'm drawn to bold, often simple shapes: how they hold a page, how they push against each other, how a single color can carry a mood or open into something unexpected when it meets another. There's a directness to it that I love. You feel it before you think it.
